TRANSLATION COMPANIES
HOW TO SELECT A REPUTABLE, EFFICIENT AND AFFORDABLE TRANSLATION COMPANY.

There are numerous translation agencies and companies in Spain, as well as countless accredited freelance translators.
All promise high- quality translations at a low price, something they can´t all necessarily deliver.

How to make an educated choice from among so many translation agencies and companies?

THERE ARE PLENTY OF TRANSLATION COMPANIES...

SPAIN IS HOME TO MORE THAN 300 TRANSLATION COMPANIES

There are more than 300 translation companies in Spain, although almost half operate as "virtual translation companies" that function soley over the internet, without a physical office space. The majority of the rest of the translation companies are located in Madrid and Barcelona.

Among these, the makeup and guiding principles of each company varies widely, and therein lies the difficulty in making an informed choice. There are translations that employ students or non-native speakers to cut costs; others claim to specialize in all different types of texts and still others that offer incredible prices selling free translations from Google and passing them off as professional translations...

HOW TO SELECT A TRANSLATION COMPANY

TIPS AND TRICKS FOR CHOOSING A TRANSLATION COMPANY

1. Look for translation companies that have physical offices in Spain .
Stay away fom questionable web sites that don´t disclose financial information, address and telephone numbers. The majority are "virtual agencies" , that "disappear" or leave clients hanging when faced with any problem. Give priority to local translation companies or those located in a big city like Madrid or Barcelona.

2.- Opt for translation companies that work ONLY with 100% native translators. Only a translator who is a native speaker in the target language can ensure a precise translation.

3.- Review the portfolios of the clients of the translation companies, giving priority to those that have previously worked wtih clients in your field or on projects similar to yours.

4.- Find out about the reputation of each translation company. . A simple on-line search with the name of the agency ( plus the word ""problems"", or "proz") will give you idea about the agency´s credibility.

5.- Be realistic about delivery deadlines: a good translation takes time. Be realistic about prices: there´s no such thing as a free lunch. If you want a good translation, don´t be tempted by companies offering the lowest prices; generally for just a bit more money you will get a much better translation.

6.-Always demand an quote before the work starts that is exact and fixed, with a guarantee of the delivery deadline, revision, and confidentiality.
